Carry Pumps are a great choice for
aquacultural applications. The pumps and motors are rated for continuous
duty in fresh and salt water. Carry Pumps have been used in: tilapia
fish farming in raceways, shrimp farming, and salmon fish operations.
These pumps work best in situations where the livestock do not come in
contact with the pumps. Due to the powerful pumping action of the pumps,
livestock would be in danger of being caught in the intake of the pump and would
not survive the experience. The pumps are environmentally friendly and
contain no oil to contaminate the water. This makes the pumps safe for
aeration and water circulation in pond systems. We cannot emphasize enough
the importance of regular maintenance, alarms and back up systems when dealing
with livestock. No equipment is fool-proof and failures can occur in
the most sophisticated equipment. Make sure your investment is
protected.
How to determine what you need:
Here are some guidelines for determining the type and size of
pump or pumps you may need in your specific applications. These are just a
guideline. Your application may require more specific details or
functionality not available with our pumps and controls. If you have any
questions regarding the sizing of a pump or pumps for your application, please
give us a call or an email with your specific
questions. We will be glad to help answer your questions. Or click
on our distributor page to find a
distributor close to you. These individuals deal with aquacultural
applications on a regular basis and are a great source of information, not only
about our products but other complimentary products as well.

Determine the layout of the applications - size and
depth of raceways, ponds or tanks. How much water do you need to
pump per minute? Where? How high? How far? The answers to
these questions can tell you how many pumps you will need, your gallons
per minute and total dynamic head requirements. See the Pump
Specifications page for pump performance curves and details on
specific pumps. |
 |
Determine the electrical requirements of the
application. What phase and voltage of power do you have available -
single or three phase; 115, 200, 230, 460 or 575 volts, 50 or 60
Hertz? Do you need to turn the pumps on and off automatically or
manually? Will the pumps be tied into an elaborate control system or
stand alone? |
 |
Determine the back up and protection devises you will
use to ensure the safety of your livestock. This is an important
step and does not necessarily just involve the Carry Pumps. However,
our pumps are mechanical and electrical devises and are subject to failure
like anything else. Please consider using backup systems and having
spare pumps and accessories on hand for emergency situations. |
